Opening in 2027 as part of the Our Cultural Heart regeneration programme, the Food Hall will bring together a mix of independent food businesses in a new town centre destination.
Kirklees Council has now launched an Expression of Interest to begin finding the traders who will shape its food offer, with businesses from across Kirklees and beyond encouraged to come forward.
The opportunity has been designed to reduce some of the financial barriers businesses can face when taking on a new food venue. Each trader outlet will be fully fitted, including cookline equipment and extraction, cold storage, wash-up facilities and back-of-house storage.
Alongside established independent businesses looking for their next location, start-ups and emerging operators are actively encouraged to express an interest.
Successful traders will have access to operational support, mentoring and business development support as they prepare to open and beyond.
Food and hospitality specialists JT & Crew are leading the mobilisation of the Food Hall and are working with Kirklees Council to curate the trader mix, support businesses through onboarding and prepare the venue for opening.
The search is focused on businesses with distinctive, high-quality and inclusive food concepts that can contribute to a varied overall offer. Traders will also need to demonstrate commercial potential and an ability to work collaboratively as part of the wider Food Hall.
Successful businesses will join a collective of independent traders, benefiting from the shared footfall and marketing of the wider Food Hall destination as well as ongoing specialist support.

The Food Hall will open in 2027, with its new name and identity due to be revealed in the coming weeks.
