Representatives from the council will be attending and showcasing at UKREiiF – the UKs largest real estate exhibition – between 20 and 22 May, to encourage more investment in Kirklees and to build more great partnerships with organisations across the UK and beyond.
The council’s Business Kirklees team, who are responsible for business, economy and growth across Kirklees, will be working to make new connections which will benefit Kirklees’ regeneration and economic growth for years to come. This includes hosting two events focused on Kirklees’ two largest towns, Huddersfield and Dewsbury – both of which are already set to benefit from major investment in regeneration over the next decade and beyond, offering a wide range of opportunities for businesses, investors and developers.
On Tuesday 20 May, Kirklees Council will be sharing investment opportunities in the local health tech and life science sectors at the UKREiiF Health Mixer. Alongside the University of Huddersfield, the council will showcase the vision for health innovation and regeneration in Huddersfield and local potential for businesses, investors and developers looking for good returns on investment. This will cover the government’s £160 million West Yorkshire Health Innovation and Digital Tech Investment Zone, which for Kirklees focuses on the council’s Station to Stadium Enterprise Corridor – a scheme that’s all about boosting economic development in Huddersfield, with a particular eye on businesses in the health and life science industries – all of which is anchored by the university’s brand new, game-changing National Health Innovation Campus.

A second event on Thursday 22 May will showcase opportunities in Dewsbury, including the upcoming Dewsbury Riverside development, the council’s largest scale housing scheme which aims to bring thousands of new homes to North Kirklees over a phased period of time. As well as the Riverside scheme massively supporting housing growth in and around Dewsbury, it will steadily expand the offer and range of facilities like schools, shops, cafes, community facilities, and local healthcare in the area. The council is about to launch procurement for a Master Developer for the site, which will be the first of many opportunities for investors and developers like those attending UKREiiF.

Both of these towns are currently benefitting from millions of pounds more investment through the council’s town centre blueprints, which lay out plans for future growth and development across their respective town centres, spanning well over a decade. Between them, the Huddersfield and Dewsbury Blueprints cover Our Cultural Heart – a £250million development which will make Kirklees a destination for art, music, history and culture – the transformation and modernisation of two historic markets, development of new parks and green spaces, the creation of more flexible event spaces across both town centres, and the installation of new artwork and sculpture to celebrate local heritage, the area’s bright future, and the fantastic community and industry in Kirklees.
Huddersfield and Dewsbury are also both benefitting from much further investment through the multibillion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade, as well as millions of pounds of funding from the UK Government, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Historic England and more – all of which will make these towns, and the surrounding areas, an even more attractive opportunity for all kinds of investment in years to come. This will in turn make Kirklees a better place to live, work and visit in the future, and support economic growth and thriving town centres for future generations.

Councillor Graham Turner, Cabinet Member for Finance and Regeneration, said;
“We’re thrilled to showcase Kirklees at UKREiiF for the third year in a row. This year, we’re presenting fantastic opportunities for involvement in transformative projects across Kirklees, aimed at creating welcoming and sustainable places for residents and businesses, while fostering new connections and strengthening existing ones.
“We’re hosting two events to highlight unique opportunities in our largest towns, Huddersfield and Dewsbury. These events will feature developments we’ve been working on, offering investors and developers the chance to be part of impactful projects that will drive meaningful change. The Station to Stadium Enterprise Corridor and Dewsbury Riverside focus on providing thriving spaces for residents and businesses, boosting business and footfall from beyond Kirklees, and creating new places to live, work, and visit. Both projects should deliver good returns on investment and will significantly enhance economic growth for Kirklees.
“With around £2 billion set to be invested across Kirklees over the next decade, we’re excited to partner with more investors and developers to deliver substantial transformation for future generations.”
