One of the key opportunities we’re going to showcase is the Dewsbury Riverside housing development – Kirklees’ largest-scale housing development in living memory. We’ll also be talking about other exciting plans for Dewsbury, including our Dewsbury Blueprint, which lays out our plans for investment across the town centre over the next decade and beyond.
Dewsbury is one of Kirklees’ most up-and-coming towns, set to be a fantastic place to live, work and invest. Already benefitting from significant investment from the UK Government, West Yorkshire Combined Authority and multibillion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade, Dewsbury also boasts cheaper property prices than surrounding areas, stunning rural surroundings, and brilliant transport connections which are only set to improve over coming years. Now is the perfect time to invest.
Dewsbury Riverside
We’re about to launch procurement of our Master Developer for Dewsbury Riverside, which will be an incredible investment opportunity for those attending UKREiiF. There will be many more opportunities to invest in Dewsbury’s growth and regeneration over years to come.
The Riverside scheme will massively support housing growth in and around Dewsbury, whilst steadily expanding the offer and range of facilities like schools, shops, cafes, community facilities, and local healthcare. Thousands of new homes will be delivered across on the site over several development phases, with a brand new and improved Ravensthorpe Railway Station created through TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU) investment, which will help plug the new housing development into Dewsbury’s fantastic existing connections with the rest of the north and beyond, providing better access and easier commuting.

As well as supporting housing growth, once completed Dewsbury Riverside should create new job opportunities within local community centres and facilities.
We want Dewsbury Riverside to be a welcoming, sustainable place to live that provides social value and improves the health and wellbeing of residents. It is our biggest housing development across Kirklees and will bring an influx of footfall to massively impact not just Dewsbury town centre but other nearby towns like Mirfield.

What is the Dewsbury Blueprint?
The Dewsbury Blueprint is our masterplan for investment across the town centre over the next decade and beyond. Dewsbury is one of many towns across Kirklees where we’re taking this blueprint approach to development, addressing unique local challenges holistically to create a town centre which can thrive for not just years but generations to come.
Key projects within the blueprint include redevelopment of the historic market to create a more varied, day-to-night offering. The current traditional market will be extended, whilst creating more areas for eating, drinking, socialising and events. There will be a mix of permanent indoor stalls and flexible outdoor stalls on an open paved area outside the market hall that will then extend into the wider public park to attract further footfall.

The Dewsbury Arcade is a beautiful, Grade ll Listed shopping centre, which has been a focal point in the town centre since the late 1800s. The arcade will be home to 16 small shop units and four larger ones, as well as six upstairs studios available for various uses. It will be another great place for independent local traders to grow their business.

We’re also making improvements to the much-loved town hall and surrounding area, bringing more footfall into the town centre, day through to night. Directly outside the town hall, improvements to better the public realm and create a nicer area for people to spend time, socialise and enjoy events are underway.

Restorations have been made to the Victoria Concert Hall, as well as the newly opened Victoria Bar and events venue that can be rented out. Improvements have also been made to many of the town hall’s ornate rooms, offering a wide range of opportunities for leisure activities and celebration spaces.
Dewsbury Learning Quarter is home to two Kirklees College centres, offering a range of courses with fantastic facilities to give young people access to high quality education. Through our regeneration projects in and around Dewsbury, we’re also working with both Kirklees College and the University of Huddersfield to provide real-world learning opportunities for students studying relevant fields, like construction, design and architecture.
Alongside the Dewsbury Riverside development, Daisy Hill will have plenty of opportunities for investments with plans to build new homes to rent or buy, as well creating new retail and commercial space in the town centre itself. We are currently supporting Mood Developments to transform one of the area’s beautiful Grade ll Listed buildings, Fieldhouse, into 23 spacious apartments with additional retail space to attract budding entrepreneurs and businesses. The development is in a prime location, standing opposite Dewsbury Train Station – which is also set to benefit from investment through the TRU – making Daisy Hill the perfect spot to capitalise on Dewsbury’s excellent transport links.
